Gillingham Football Club has announced GPS Group as the official sponsor for its new Fan Zone at MEMS Priestfield Stadium. The partnership was confirmed this week, with the area for supporters opening for the first time this Saturday.

The club confirmed the sponsorship agreement, which involves the local company supporting the pre-match activities. The Fan Zone is situated at the far end of the stadium's parking area and will open at 1pm on Saturday, before the League Two game with Tranmere Rovers.

What will the Fan Zone offer?

The first day will include a complete lineup of activities. Players Liam Gordon and Ethan Coleman will join a fan question-and-answer session. Music will come from DJ Jordan Hill, and a performance by Charlie Grant is also planned.

Supporters can get food and drinks. For children, coaches from the club's foundation will run games in a special play zone, and the team mascots Tommy and Tammy will be present.

What did the sponsors say?

Paul Slaughter from GPS Group shared his company's excitement about the initiative. "We are delighted to be official sponsors of the club's Fan Zone," he stated. "We were passionate about the project from the get go and we really hope the supporters enjoy the end product."

Why does this matter for the club now?

The new Fan Zone comes as Gillingham aims to gain momentum in League Two. The club's Managing Director Joe Comper expressed gratitude to GPS Group for their backing, emphasizing the value of improving the experience for fans on match days.

The team's next match is the home fixture against Tranmere this Saturday, with the new Fan Zone intended to unite supporters long before the game begins.
